I have been teaching at Johnnie Cochran Middle School for 4 years. I attended College in Illinois at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where I obtained both my B.A. in English Literature and Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting. During the school year my students explore different types of writing; narrative, expository, response to literature and persuasion. The instruction in my class is centered around the structural components of writing essays in the types of the writing listed above. My students will also be exposed to various genres of literatures, reading stories, books, plays and essays. These different genres are geared with the single purpose of exposing 7th grade students to the many types of good writing.
